Pantone describes “Living Coral” to be the desired, familiar and energising aspects of colour found in nature; where its display under the sea mesmerises the eye and mind.
When picking the Colour of the Year, experts go through a lengthy process of detailed consideration to narrow down the exact shade. They do this by analysing trends, immersing themselves into the entertainment industry, film production and travelling to find the newest art collections from around the world.
Fashion trends are not the only aspect which are influenced by Pantone Colour of the Year, it also inspires multiple industries including home furnishings, industrial design, product packaging and graphic design.
There have been slight similarities in previous years to Living Coral, such as Rose Quartz, Tangerine Tango and Honeysuckle. As we all know trends do tend to come back around so it is not surprising that these similar shades have been spotted across the catwalk before. Although ‘Living Coral’ will be a key colour seen in fashion collections this year other trending colours for spring/summer consist of light lavenders, egg-yolk pastel yellows, neon greens and metallic silvers.
Here at Route 13 we think that ‘Living Coral’ is the most seasonal appropriate out of all the colour trends that are predicted for Spring/ Summer 2019. Allowing us to express tropical holidays, dreamy fruity drinks and the flowers blossoming in our styling to give us hints of summer through our fashion choices. This Pantone of the year fits perfectly between orange and pink and brightens up every outfit.
